The Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research (CMHPSR), the more than 30-year-old multi-disciplinary center at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania dedicated to advancing research, policy, practice and training to improve mental health care and mental health outcomes, announced today the launch of its new name, logo, tagline and website. CMHPSR now will be known as Penn Center for Mental Health (CMH).
“For more than three decades, faculty and staff in our Center have devoted themselves to conducting research on the best ways to organize, finance and deliver mental health care, providing technical assistance to organizations that are responsible for providing and paying for this care, and training the next generation of researchers and policymakers to do the same,” said Dr. David S. Mandell, Professor and Director of the Center. “Over time, our mission, community partners and portfolio have expanded greatly. Our new name and mission acknowledge this expansion and set a course for future work to improve the lives of people with or at risk for psychiatric and developmental disabilities.”
The Center embarked on the rebranding process in response to recommendations outlined in its recent Strategic Plan. Though nationally recognized for its research, technical assistance and academic training in adult and children’s mental health services, the Strategic Plan identified a need for the Center to develop a more unified identity, improve its communications and broaden overall awareness.
Branding research resulted in the new, easier-to-say name; a clearly recognizable and uplifting logo coupled with a tagline: “Advancing policy, research, services and training to improve lives”; a cleaner, more functional and searchable website; and an e-newsletter and other digital communications.
The Center partnered with Little Warrior Agency, a Philadelphia-based creative firm, on the rebranding.
