NIH Award to Support Integrated Pathogen and Vector Genomics Resources

Posted On: March 05, 2020

Congratulations to Christian Stoeckert, a Research Professor in our department, for being part of this incredible NIH award to combine resources analyzing pathogen and vector datasets. An intersection between genomics and epidemiology, this five-year project will create the Eukaryotic Pathogen, Host & Vector Genomics Resource, VEuPathDB.org. The integrated database will host “”thousands of genomes, representing hundreds of species, along with extensive information on isolate provenance, gene function, and more”. This merge will strengthen efficiency and improve accessibility of the resources at hand. In doing so, they also hope to encourage engagement in international public health research, leading to more impactful advances in this field.
