The department supports undergraduate education in two ways: by engaging undergraduate researchers from Penn in Genetics labs and by participating in The Summer Undergraduate Intenship Program (SUIP). This program provides an intense research experience to 30 college students from across the US who are interested in graduate study in the biomedical and biological sciences. Interns complete ten weeks of full-time laboratory research, attend state-of-the-art research seminars, and receive career counseling from program faculty and administrators.
