Planned Giving

At Penn Medicine, we envision a world free from health conditions that impact the quality of our lives and the lives of our family and friends. To do this, we strive to provide high quality and patient-centered care and aspire to advance medical science through innovative research.

We are extremely grateful for the generous commitments of our donors who are helping make that vision a reality. These cherished donors are members of our Medical Legacy Circle because they have chosen to support our mission through financial and estate planning, with charitable gift annuities, trusts, retirement plan assets, life insurance, or real estate gifts. Planned gifts like these are critical to the future of Penn Medicine and our mission. A planned gift will leave a legacy of support for programs and initiatives that will have an impact for years to come.

Thank you for visiting the Office of Planned Giving website. We are here to answer your questions and help you achieve your vision of philanthropic support to Penn Medicine. Our institution is stronger than ever because of donors like you.

Planned Giving

From founding the first U.S. hospital and medical school more than two centuries ago to pioneering today’s mRNA vaccines and cancer treatments, Penn Medicine has always shown the world what comes next. Today, our 40,000+ team members forge forward, achieving extraordinary levels of collaboration across departments and labs to write the future of medicine.

Since its inception, Penn Medicine has relied on philanthropic individuals like you to further our mission. We are all beneficiaries of their foresight and generosity.

Penn Medicine is committed to providing the best care to patients no matter where they live, in whatever setting works best. Penn Medicine is made up of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Perelman School of Medicine. Our growing health system includes Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, Penn Medicine Princeton Health, and numerous hospitals and clinical practices across 27 counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

This comprehensive plan sets forth the direction for Penn Medicine’s priorities, building our strategic decisions, and ensuring the continued advancement of our legacy in innovation and excellence. Working with you and your advisors together, Penn Medicine’s Office of Planned Giving can help you tailor specific gift strategies to realize your philanthropic ambitions. Many donors count Penn Medicine as one of their top philanthropic priorities but, quite reasonably, want to provide for their loved ones too! These commendable goals—supporting the people and institutions that we love—are not mutually exclusive. With proper planning, you have the power to achieve your charitable and non-charitable financial goals.

Did You Know?

A donor who wishes to make a gift to Penn Medicine through his or her will (known as a bequest) need not rewrite the whole will to accomplish this. We can provide custom language so you can direct your bequest gift to the area within Penn Medicine that is the most important to you. Share this language with your attorney, who can draft a codicil, a simple addendum to the will, leaving your other estate plans in place. See gift of bequest information.
