Akanksha received her PhD in Biological Sciences in 2023 from Drexel University under the mentorship of Dr. Felice Elefant. During her PhD, she focused on neuroepigenetic mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s Disease pathology, including aberrant alternative splicing events and drug discovery to restore neural histone acetylation homeostasis. As a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Elizabeth Heller’s lab, she is interested in applying her background to study dysregulation of chromatin-mediated splicing in neurological disorders and how these events can be reversed for therapeutic treatment. Outside of the lab, she enjoys biking on Schuylkill trail, city photography and zumba dance sessions.
