Marisol was born and raised in Rochester, NY and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. She came to Penn as a PennPREP post-bacc scholar in Dr. Shelley Berger’s lab, where she studied the epigenetic mechanisms underlying aging in the paternal germline. As a graduate student in the CAMB Genetics and Epigenetics graduate group, she is currently interested in the neuroepigenetic mechanisms underlying complex behavior. Her work in the Heller Lab focuses on the the role of precise histone post-translational modifications in temporally regulating gene activation and cocaine behavior across abstinence. Outside of the lab, you can find Marisol exploring new thrift stores, playing pickleball, or at trivia.
